About

 

Anne Arundel Community College has developed a program in the transportation, logistics, and supply chain management industries. The program is designed to provide students with a broad understand of the transportation and supply chain industries, with a focus on cargo handling, supply chain logistics, airport and seaport operations, related technologies, and security requirements.

Transportation and Supply Chain Management is a broad, growing industry that encompasses many different occupations and career paths. Careers generally fall into seven broad career areas: operations; planning and management; warehousing and distribution; facility and equipment maintenance; systems; health and safety management; or sales and service.

The program is designed for both new and incumbent workers. Options are available for students to earn various credentials in the industry, including:

2nd Annual AACC Truck Pull

Thursday, April 4, 2013 

11AM – 2PM

Arnold Campus - Parking Lot C

 

Join the fun and learn about the Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management Industries. 

 

The event will have two main focuses: the truck pull event and an education, career, and company showcase. The truck pulling activity will allow teams of five students to compete in a timed event by pulling an empty delivery box truck with a rope over a short, marked course on campus. The showcase event will allow local transportation, logistics, and supply chain companies can set up booths, tables, and displays providing industry information, career opportunities, or job listings.  Students and community members will be able to interact with the companies with activities and ask questions about the industry.

Event Cost

This event is free! The goals for the event are to bring awareness to courses and degrees available for students to gain knowledge about the transportation, logistics, and supply chain industries and to bring awareness about industry leaders, companies, careers, and jobs to prospective students and employees.    

 

Prizes & Awards

Teams of five will compete in a timed event to pull an empty delivery truck over a closed course.

Teams can compete in the following categories:

 

Student Category

1st Place Award for the fastest time – $100 tuition voucher towards a Transportation Course

2nd Place Award for the fastest time – Book voucher towards a Transportation Course

Faculty Category

College Club and Organization Category

Community Category

 

Passport Challenge

New this year!  Participants will use their “Passport” issued to them at the event to visit booths representing the different industries.  Complete the challenge at each booth, receive a stamp on your passport, and turn your passport in for a prize!
